Description

Virtua Fighter 5 saw a release in Japan on 12th July 2006 and makes use of the Sega Gigabit Network to enable networked gaming between arcades around the country. 2 machines are directly linked together and each player has their own screen to fight from, with an additional screen above the contestants being used to show highlights of the fighting to the audience. Each screen is a high definition LCD based display. The expensive set up and network requirement mean the game is currently on hold for an international release. The game includes two new characters, a female monkey kungfu style fighter named Eileen and a mexican wrestler named El Blaze. The game uses a very similar engine to that of Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution and focuses on testing the graphical capabilities of the new hardware.
