Game Introduction

This is a typical mid-1990's fighting game, but it has probably the best sound and graphics of the genre.

Game Play

A tournament held by Ultratech soon turns to a battle for survival. Fighters from Agencies, Temples, Castles, Labs, and Outer Space converge with different vendettas and a common goal, Champion Of Ultratech. The Game introduced Performable combos, Featured Fatalities and Humiliations Like The Mortal Kombat Series, and the option to pull off multiple ULTRA COMBOS!!!

Cheats, Tricks, Bugs, and Easter Eggs

To play as EYEDOL: select Riptor, then hold Left+1+2+4; during the VS screen, but before the screen fades, hold Right+2+3+6. You should hear the game say "EYEDOL". To Enhance Combo Breakers, Hold Both Start Buttons Down and hold Both Joysticks in the "Down" Position. When you hear "COMBO BREAKER", Breakers will be easier to perform.

Contrary to what some believe, Killer Instinct does not use a modified Midway T-Unit architecture. Instead of the TMS34010, an R4600 RISC processor was used for the main CPU. This game does use the DCS DSP for sound and music, though. It showcased Nintendo's promotion for the Nintendo 64 system as the ULTRA 64.

The game will come up with a blue screen and it will remain blue if the hard drive is missing. If the screen turns red, you will hear "DANGER!!!" This indicates that either the Hard Disk and/or a ROM may be corrupt.
