Description

"Junk Yard" is a typical modern pinball machine, placing importance on both the pinball playfield and also on the LED video screen. The pinball portion itself is all about, well, collecting pieces of junk. A weather vane, a bathtub, a propeller, etc. are all keys to getting scoring big points.

The point of the game is to gather certain combinations of junk pieces in order to create new devices (e.g. television + weather vane=radar) which give you bigger points, and allow you to play bonus games.

There is also a mini-game on the LED screen where you have to save a girl from a vicious dog. You build up "ammo" (pieces of toast, for a toaster is a junk item which the player starts with) by hitting a ramp towards the right site of the playfield, then fire the toast towards the dog in the mini-game, while trying to miss the girl. This yields bonus points.

There are many bonus play modes, such as the Great Toilet Adventure, the Time Machine mode, and the Crane Hurry-Up. These and others can be activated by hitting certain combinations during regular play (I will not give the secrets here).

Overall, this is another entertaining game from Williams. I don't know how rare it is, but I play it at my local bowling alley whenever I'm there. If you see "Junk Yard", I suggest you try it as well.
