18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker DescriptionA truck driving game from Sega. Race another trucker across the country, carrying cargo and trying to beat the clock.Cabinet InformationThere are two cabinets: a single-player 50-inch deluxe cabinet, complete with bench seat (so a friend can sit next to you and work the horn), and linked 25-inch cabinets for head-to-head two-player racing. Both cabinets are mocked up to look like truck cabs.Game PlayPlayers choose one of several trucks, each rated in speed, handling, etc. They then race from point to point across the country, hauling cargo (more difficult cargo will increase your pay for that leg of the journey) while avoiding innocent traffic (blare the horn to get drivers out of your way) and trying to outrun a reckless computer opponent (or player two in linked matches). Good performances are rewarded with bonus stages that require players to manuever the truck in tight alleyways and park the truck in a limited amount of time.MiscellaneousAnother game in Sega's "Real Life Career Series," following such games as Emergency Call Ambulance, Brave Firefighters, Jambo! Safari, Airline Pilots and Crazy Taxi.VAPS Arcade CensusThere are 6,993 members of the Video Arcade Preservation Society / Vintage Arcade Preservation Society, 4,022 whom participate in our arcade census project of games owned, wanted, or for sale. FixesProblem: The horn sounds off continuously and will not stop. Solution: The metal shaft that is connected to the metal horn button has come unscrewed and is blocking the optical sensor in the steering wheel, giving the signal that the horn is depressed. Remove the kick plate under the front console of the game. After removing the horn pushbutton, push the metal shaft back up through the center of the steering wheel.Contribute Links
