Trivia

Acclaim's version of this game should not be confused with Midway's version, which was never released to the public. Acclaim's version is a gun game in the same vein as Area 51, while Midway's game was intended to be a scrolling fighter.

The game was nothing to do with the film. It was initially intended to be, then we saw the film and hated it. After that the game changed name twice Future Cop and FireTrap, it even nearly became a Spice Girls game not sure how it would have worked.., before changing back to being a Dredd game, but not based on the film.

Many of the people in the full motion video were simply employees of the Gremlin studio in Sheffield.

Miscellaneous

This game was developed by Gremlin and licensed to Acclaim for distribution.

Technical

Uses a PlayStation arcade board, which is essentially a standard PlayStation but with more main and video RAM, and a hard disk instead of a CD-ROM. Two revisions were released, B and C.

The only difference from the PlayStation home game was that you got a fancy explosion that used up all that extra RAM when detonating your smart bomb.
