Chicago Ridge

MARQUEE PICTURE NEEDED FOR Chicago Ridge - Click for details on how to contribute.

The earliest floor model slots were battery operated, so when Paul E. Berger Mfg. Co. introduced this model in 1897 it naturally employed electrical contacts to trigger the payout mechanism. However, a disadvantage is that the player must hold the handle down to maintain contact when he hits a winning combination or he loses his reward. Also, the operator had to incur the expense and inconvenience of replacing batteries. When the all-mechanical uprights were introduced, these became obsolete.

Chicago Ridge was produced by Paul E. Berger Manufacturing Co. in 1897.
