Description

Only the most elegant saloons and casinos could offer their patrons such a splendid gambling device. The massive hand-carved quartered oak cabinet houses three individual Centaur mechanisms: two nickel machines flank the quarter one with its alluring coin-filled jackpot window. The action starts when a coin is dropped in one or all eighteen slots, each slot's color corresponding to one on the wheel. (Less frequent colors pay higher odds.) Pushing down the lever on the coin head registers the bet, and pushing the front handle release the notched wheel to spin. The rotation stops when the arrow drops back into a notch. If the arrow stops at the color bet on, the Triplet automatically pays out. Because of its bulk and high cost, few manufacturers offered triple cabinet slot machines. This example was made by the Caille Brothers Company in 1905.
