Manuals and Copyright Permission and Takedown Notices

The International Arcade Museum is the leading historical reference and preservation organization in our field. Our organization and its predecessor organizations have enjoyed several decades of support from nearly all leading manufacturers and right-holders of videogames and coin-operated machines. We thank them for their continued support.

All the manuals on this domain are believed to be posted with the blessing of the copyright owner, or to be in the public domain, or to otherwise be permitted under applicable law. Furthermore, they are provided for a non-profit education purpose to be utilized for purposes such as criticism, commentary, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research.

The manuals we usually provide support for cover obsolete machines and games not currently in production, along with coverage of related components and technology. For manuals for machines produced within the last five years, we often provide links directly to manufacturer support pages. For further support, please contact the applicable manufacturer directly (ie: Namco Arcade, Sega Arcade, Stern Pinball, etc.).

There are a few manuals there we are not able to provide online at this time, either because we choose not to for a particular reason, or because a potential rights holder does not wish us to.

In particular, Gottlieb Development LLC has acquired some intellectual property rights formerly held by the now defunct manufacturer Gottlieb. It does not consent to the online distribution of manuals to many popular Gottlieb pinball machines made during the last three decades. If you need a manual for one of these machines, one may be able to be purchased from Gottlieb's official licensee, Steven Young's Pinball Resource (www.pbresource.com), or alternatively on eBay. While many of these Gottlieb manuals produced on or before December 31, 1976 (as clarified in the Copyright Act of 1976) are believed to be outside of legal copyright protection, we do not have the inclination at this time to conduct copyright searches on each of these nor do we have the consent of the entity claiming rights in them. As such, at this time we actively work to prevent Gottlieb manuals from appearing on this site.

If you wish to contact us to grant us the ability to republish documents and/or supply us with some you hold rights to, please contact us at the address found on the About Us page.

If you believe a manual here infringes your copyright and you wish it taken down, please see our Copyright Claims & DMCA Notices page.

Thank you for your support in helping us preserve culture and history.
