Game Introduction

Garcia and Cliff are super cops in the Neo Arc police force. The professor and his daughter have been kidnapped and you must shoot your way through four missions to the final confrontation with the mysterious enemy superweapon!

Game Play

This is a fixed position "rail shooter" where you progress along a predefined path to win each level. You can shoot "anything" on screen, including plants, glass and other background objects, as well as the occassional innocent bystander. You lose health when shot by enemies and for accidentally shooting innocents. You regain health at the end of a round, depending on how accurate your shooting was.

VAPS Arcade/Coin-Op Steel Gunner Census

There are 12,254 members of the Video Arcade Preservation Society / Vintage Arcade Preservation Society, 9,612 whom participate in our arcade census project of games owned, wanted, or for sale. Census data currently includes 161,093 machines (6,737 unique titles).

Common - There are approximately 22 known instances of this machine presumably owned by our current and past members. More are likely owned by non-members. 9 of these machines are owned by our active Steel Gunner collectors. And of these, 5 are original dedicated machines, 1 is a conversion in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet, and 3 are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.

Wanted - No active members have added this machine to their wish list.

At any given time, our active members are listing on VAPS on average of 4,400 games they are looking for, and 3,600 games for sale.

This game ranks a 4 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most often seen, 1=least common) in popularity based on census ownership records.

Rarity and Popularity independently are NOT necessarily indications of value. [More Information]

Trivia

The name of the police force is the Neo Arc PD (Neo = 'NEW' Arc i.e. Newark, New Jersey). A clever play on words.
