Log in to rate this game! Cabinet InformationThis game's cabinet has an eight-panel comic strip that shows how the game is played and explains all the actions in a very simple and effective way. The first panel has the convict working on getting his ball and chain off his ankle with a hacksaw and saying "As soon as I get rid of this. I will get the gold I stashed!". The second panel has him looking toward the mine entrance and saying "I will take the gold out in the wheel-barrow I have ready on the surface.". The third and fourth panels show Bagman getting into a minecart and saying in each of those respective panels: "I will grab this ceiling beam..." following "...And into the wagon!". The fifth panel shows him dropping a bag onto a cop and saying "Take this!". Panel six shows him grabbing a pick-axe and saying "Ah-ha! A pick-ax!". The seventh panel shows him carrying a bag of gold and getting into the elevator and saying "This will be the quickest way to the surface!". The eighth and last panel shows the jailbird pushing his wheelbarrow filled with bags of gold and saying "This is my kind of work!". The comic strip on the cabinet sure does give us an interesting story, but when a person plays the game, it is much more difficult than it looks.Cabinet Style Weights and Measures
Game IntroductionThe character you control in this game is Bagman, an escaped convict in a stripped suit. His goal is to steal all the bags of gold from a mine, haul the gold to the surface and deposit his loot into his wheel-barrow. Bagman must avoid two cops who have been ordered to protect the mine, prevent the gold from being stolen and stop Bagman at all costs.Game PlayThe mine is three screens wide and scrolls as you move around. You must grab a bag of gold and carry it up to the surface and place it into the wheel-barrow and you must do it before the bonus points on the timer run out. Everytime you pick up a bag of gold, it will slow down Bagman to half speed allowing one of the two cops to easily catch up to him. If you are carrying a bag of gold while climbing a ladder and a cop is pursuing you, you can drop the bag of gold on the cop's head to temporarily put him out of the way. Another way to stop a cop from pursuing you is by picking up and using a pick-axe to stun him. The pick-axe can also be used to dig a big hole in a wall. You can also escape from each of the cops by getting into a minecart but the minecarts can kill you, if they run into you. Avoid moving minecarts by grabbing handles on mineshaft roof. Then let go of the handles when the cart is below you to ride the cart. To get out of the cart, you must grab another set of handles on the roof as soon as you are under them. You can also use the elevator to escape the cops and the elevator will also help you reach the surface quicker, especially if you are carrying a bag of gold. Most of the bags of gold are yellow, but there is a blue bonus bag of gold that is behind a wall that can only be penetrated by a pick-axe. Even so, the bonus blue bag of gold is twice as heavy as the standard yellow bags of gold but also worth a greater amount of points.VAPS Arcade/Coin-Op Bagman CensusThere are 12,158 members of the Video Arcade Preservation Society / Vintage Arcade Preservation Society, 9,544 whom participate in our arcade census project of games owned, wanted, or for sale.
