Radiant Silvergun Description

A vertically scrolling shoot-em-up.

Game Play

There are actually four other weapons besides the three buttons. They are activated using the following button combinations:
  • A + B = Homing Plasma
  • A + C = Backwards Wide Shot
  • B + C = Homing Spread
  • A + B + C = Radiant Sword

What makes Radiant Silvergun unique is that you have all your weapons in the beginning.

At first, the weapons are very weak, but they can be improved by shooting same-colored enemies ("chaining") - similar to gaining experience for a weapon in a role playing game.

Miscellaneous

The only console port exists on the Sega Saturn.

The motherboard must be configured for two players, otherwise the game will not boot. The number of players can be changed in "System Assignments"-service menu.

Trivia

Widely acclaimed as _the_ best shoot'em up ever. So far everyone who has played the game agrees...

A PlayStation port of this game was planned, but eventually scrapped, as the console did not have enough power to pump out all the 2d-sprites the game requires.
