Trivia

The original version of Super Mario Bros. 2 looked and played just like the original Super Mario Bros., but because "the powers that be" felt the game would be too hard to play for the North American audience, Nintendo instead used the game code from a Japanese Famicom Disk game called Doki Doki Panic as the basis of their new game. This is why there is such a difference between the first and the successive games in the series.

In the Super Nintendo console game called "Super Mario Allstars," the original Super Mario Bros. 2 version is included as well as the Japanese "The Lost Levels," which was the real sequel to SMB. The cartridge may be hard to find, but this great game can be still be played using an emulator.
