Sega Mega Tech DescriptionA cartridge-based multi-game system. Choose one of eight games to play from the menu. This system was never released in the United States.Cabinet InformationThe dedicated cabinet uses two monitors. The upper 10-inch monitor shows game information, the lower 20-inch monitor is used to display the game as normal.Game IntroductionBasically, this is a modified Sega Megadrive for arcade use. The motherboard can host up to eight cartridges such as Sonic The Hedgehog or Tetris. The Mega Tech system is the original version of what became the Mega Play system. However, the Mega Tech and Mega Play cartridges are not interchangeable.Game PlayThis system is similar in function to the Nintendo PlayChoice or the Neo Geo MVS.VAPS Arcade CensusThere are 7,003 members of the Video Arcade Preservation Society / Vintage Arcade Preservation Society, 4,025 whom participate in our arcade census project of games owned, wanted, or for sale. Census data currently includes 65,382 machines (3,803 unique titles).Uncommon - There are 9 known instances of this machine owned by Sega Mega Tech collectors who are members. Of these, 5 of them are original dedicated machines, 1 is a conversion in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet, and 3 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired. For Sale - There is one VAPS member with a Sega Mega Tech machine for sale. VAPS members are totally independent of VAPS and the International Arcade Museum, and we are unable to recommend, endorce, or guarantee any person or company selling games or game parts.
