Rip Cord

The aircraft that the parachutist jumps out of flys from right to left across the top of the screen, at a random height. A number of helicopters fly about at random. If the parachutist hits a helicopter or misses a scoring platform, he falls into the sea. Depending on which platform is landed upon, the player can score 10, 20 or even 50 points. The scoring platforms are located on respectively three mountain cliffs, a tower, a base and an island. The game can be set for 3, 5, 7, or 9 jumps per game, but these jumps are not deducted until the player fails to score.

A fanfare signals the beginning of the game, and the number of jumps per player is displayed at the top center of the screen. After the fanfare ends, the plane flys onto the screen. To have the parachutist jump out of the plane, press the Jump button. To open the parachute, pull the D-Ring. After you have opened the chute, you can control the parachutist's drift with the Drift control knob. Each player tries to land the parachutist on one of the scoring platforms by using the Drift control. If successful, you will continue jumping until you eventually miss a platform. If you can score twice in a row, you are eligible for a bonus score where the next jumps score ten times the normal amount. The bonus will remain in effect until you miss a platform. If you score several times in a row, the helicopters will become more active and will interfere with the parachutist. This tests your skill because it is difficult to make a high score.
