Game Introduction

There are six different stages with twleve different levels of difficulty in this game. First, Jack must climb up the maze-like beanstalk without falling off and then he must walk across a maze-like formation of clouds to get to the castle and wait for the drawbridge to open to get inside. Once inside the castle, Jack must climb a maze-like staircase to get to the giant's lair. After Jack had made it to the giant's lair, he must walk across platforms, jump over gaps and climb stairs to get where the giant and his treasures are. Then Jack must steal one of the giant's treasures which will either be the golden harp that plays music by itself, the goose that lays golden eggs, the big bag of gold coins, or the princess. After that, Jack must try to safely climb down the beanstalk with a treasure and bring it to his cottage. Following this sequence, an animated intermission will play featuring the treasure Jack had stolen and then the scenes will begin again with increased difficulty. After Jack has stolen all four treasures, the giant will come after him and Jack must then chop down the beanstalk and kill the giant. Afterwards, the entire game begins again with increased difficulty.

Game Play

During the demo of this game, there is a scene where Jack plants a magic bean into the ground and the beanstalk magically grows into the sky.

After the game begins, Jack must climb up the beanstalk while being careful not to fall off. As he climbs, he must pick some magic beans 50 points each that he can use to throw at his enemies and destroy them. Jack must pick as many beans as possible for defense throughout the game. On the beanstalk, Jack must either avoid or destroy by throwing beans at a caterpillar 100 points, a moth 150 points, a woodpecker 100 points and/or a bee 300 points. Jack can also jump from section to section of the beanstalk.

On a later level, after Jack has climbed all the way up the beanstalk, he must carefully walk across the clouds to reach the castle. As he walks across the clouds, he must jump over or throw beans to destroy attacking lions 100 points and/or deadly birds 200 points. When Jack has made it to the castle, he must wait for the drawbridge to lower in order for him to enter.

On later levels, after Jack has entered the castle, he must run up a staircase that leads to the giant's lair while jumping over missing steps. Jack must also evade falling steps as well as jump over or throw beans to destroy a cat 300 points and a mouse 200 points who come running down the stairs. After Jack has safely reached the top of the stairs, he will enter the giant's lair.

On all levels, when Jack has made it into the giant's lair, he must climb up different formations of platforms and stairs to get to where the giant lies fast asleep next to his entire cache of treasures including the musical golden harp, the great big bag of gold coins, the golden egg-laying goose and a young princess who is imprisoned in a huge birdcage. Jack must jump from platform to platform and climb the stairs to get to the treasures. There are also flying magic lamps 500 points which Jack must avoid or throw beans at to destroy. The goose will move back and forth across the top, laying and dropping golden eggs that Jack must try to catch with his hat and score 100 points each. When Jack has made it to the treasures at the top of the giant's lair, he must run over to the treasure that is flashing and capture it.

On all levels, after Jack has captured a treasure, he must then climb down the beanstalk with that treasure and take it to his cottage at the bottom of the screen. Jack will face the exact same enemies as he did when climbing up the beanstalk. Jack must also avoid falling rocks as he climbs down the beanstalk. After Jack has successfully taken a treasure to his cottage when he has made it to the ground, an animated intermission featuring that specific treasure will play. Afterwards, Jack must start all over again to steal the remaining treasures.

The treasures that Jack must steal in order are the harp, the bag of gold coins, the goose and lastly the princess. When Jack starts climbing down the beanstalk with the princess, the giant will awaken and start chasing Jack down the beanstalk. So on the final level, when Jack reaches the ground, he must grab an axe lying next to the beanstalk and then start chopping it down before the giant reaches him. If Jack successfully chops down the beanstalk before the giant reaches him, the giant will fall to the ground and be killed. Afterwards, another intermission plays.

Whenever a scene on this game is completed, a bonus score is awarded.

After Jack has captured all four treasures, chopped down the beanstalk and killed the giant. All scenes and levels will begin again with increased difficulty.

Depending on the game's settings, the number of lives at the beginning of the game can range from three to five and an extra life can be awarded only once at 10,000 points or at every 10,000 points.
