This game is based on the Japanese anime series Kousoku Denjin Albegas (literally, "Lightspeed Electric God Albegas") by Toei Animation. At one point, World Events Productions planned to make the series a third part of their Voltron continuity, with the starring mecha becoming "Gladiator Voltron". However, this plan never materialized, and the anime remains unlicensed.
